Facebook At Work is a platform where subscribers can use the product’s special Work Feed of posts from colleagues to exchange ideas and assume tasks.

According to the TechCrunch report, Facebook will launch integrations or partnerships with other Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) tool providers including Asana, making it lucrative for Facebook to get every single member of a company signed up.

Facebook At Work will also offer Groups as well as Messenger, which includes audio and video calling options that could compete with Slack and Skype. Plus it provides the social network’s profiles, Events and Live video features, the report noted.

As far as pricing is concerned, the exact figures for Facebook At Work have not been announced but the 400-plus beta testers, who have been testing the product for a while will get a few additional months of comped subscriptions to test it out.
“Facebook believes it can keep individual employees engaged with the product, so it is betting on a pricing plan that charges companies per monthly active user instead of charging a flat rate per company,” TechCrunch quoted Facebook At Work director Julien Codorniou as previously saying.

The product has been in the making since 2014 and the first tests were officially unveiled in 2015.

Since then, Facebook has been busy signing up huge international customers like the 100,000-employee Royal Bank Of Scotland, the report added.

BlueStacks Now Lets You Stream Android Apps on Facebook Live

  • BlueStacks is an Android emulator for the desktop
  • Users can now stream any app from inside BlueStacks directly to Facebook
  • BlueStacks in April added a similar Twitch-streaming option as well

BlueStacks is an Android emulator for the desktop which allows users to run apps and games from Google Play using a Mac or a PC. With over a 150 million users currently, BlueStacks is now aiming for an even bigger audience by integrating with Facebook Live. With this, users can now stream any app from inside BlueStacks directly to Facebook.

Users will be able to stream the content to their own profile, their friend’s timelines, or their own fan page. BlueStacks in April added a similar Twitch-streaming option as well. While Twitch is gaming-centric, Facebook has the numbers which BlueStacks wants to capitalise on. Facebook also looks keen on diversifying its live videos with gaming.

“Contextual streaming is the future of live,” said BlueStacks CEO, Rosen Sharma. “By giving people the ability to pair live streams with any app, it allows them to create more engaging content. We want to free people up to engage in app-fueled experiences like singing with Smule’s ‘Sing! Karaoke or sharing their gameplay from VainGlory. Our initial Twitch integration was an ideal showcase of what this can be in the gaming world. With this expansion to Facebook Live, we are adding the other million plus apps out there to the livestreaming ecosystem.”

BlueStacks has also partnered with China-based streaming services, PandaTV and DouYu, to bring mobile app streaming to an already growing Chinese market with 420 million mobile gamers.

The company is kicking off the launch of Facebook Live integration by bringing in high profile YouTube celebrities ranging from musicians to gamers to livestream themselves and their favourite apps to millions of fans on Facebook.

Facebook has over a 100 partners for its Live API and BlueStacks is among the largest yet. BlueStacks is hoping to increase its user base through Facebook which currently boasts 1.65 billion users across the world.

Idea Says Has Provisioned More Interconnection Points for Reliance Jio

Idea Says Has Provisioned More Interconnection Points for Reliance Jio

Idea Cellular on Friday said it has now provisioned 1,865 ports to Reliance Jio for access, from the 565 earlier – a 230 percent increase in capacity.

Idea Cellular recently invited Jio for a discussion to mutually resolve the traffic asymmetry.

“As quality of service for its customers is top priority, Idea has agreed to further enhance capacity in both access and long distance interconnection, by providing over 230 per cent additional capacity, allowing for two-way calling between the networks,” Idea said in a statement.

“With this huge capacity expansion, over 2,100 ports will now be available for traffic between Idea and Jio, allowing sufficient buffer for the future,” it added.

Earlier, Jio said that interconnection points provided by other operators were not sufficient.

“Based on industry practice, 12,500 E1 ports (interconnect points, with technical parameters) are required for 22 million subscribers, details of which have been provided to the members of Cellular Operators’ Association of India,” said a Reliance Industries statement on August 18.

“As against this, the top three operators have released only 1,400 ports so far,” the company said.

A rough calculation suggests that Jio, as per the above-mentioned figures, would need a little over 8,500 ports given a subscriber base of 15 million.

Reliance Jio had officially launched its services on September 5.

iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus Home Button Said to Work Only With Select Gloves

iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus Home Button Said to Work Only With Select Gloves

  • Home Button reportedly requires finger touch to work
  • Reports suggest some capacitive gloves don’t work with the phone
  • Apple introduced non-clickable home button with iPhone 7

It seems like winters are coming early for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus users, as user report claim that the Home Button on the smartphones doesn’t work without direct touch of a finger. Apple introduced a non-clickable new home button with iPhone 7, which uses Force Touch technology just like its latest laptops. Now, some users are claiming that the home button doesn’t work even with most gloves, including touchscreen-friendly ones.

The issue was first highlighted by Twitter user Myke Hurley, who pointed out that the Home Button on iPhone 7 is not able to recognise touch if there is any material, like a T-shirt, between finger and the button. However, the reports following this initial complaint have been divided.

On one hand, a report from MacRumors claims that the Home Button was not responsive to even touchscreen-friendly gloves in their test. “We tested with a pair of gloves that are designed for touch screens and while we could unlock the iPhone 6s Plus with the gloves and use the touchscreen, that wasn’t possible with the iPhone 7 Plus — the Home Button wouldn’t activate,” MacRumors said in its report.

While on the other hand, iMore has showcased the Home Button working with capacitive gloves on. In its report, it says, “Touch ID won’t work with capacitive gloves, because they cover your fingerprint, but you can still to bring up Passcode, then tap it in.”

Hurley, in a subsequent tweet, has said that the home button doesn’t seem to be working due to the Touch ID ring present on it.

With the introduction of ‘Raise to Wake’ feature, which allows you to wake the screen up just by picking up the device, with iOS 10, it is arguable how much annoyance this issue will create when winters actually arrive.

For now, we will have to wait and see if Apple will choose to respond to the issue.

iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus Reportedly Making a Weird Hissing Sound Under Load

iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus Reportedly Making a Weird Hissing Sound Under Load

  • It is mostly making the noise when performing tedious tasks
  • Few early buyers have reported the issue
  • The noise emits from the back of the phone

Apple started shipping the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to pre-ordered customers and made it available in retail stores on Friday, and three days later, reports of a strange issue are coming in. Cheekily calling it ‘noisegate’, several users are reporting that their iPhone 7 Plus is making a weird hissing noise, especially under load. Some users indicate the issue extends to the iPhone 7 as well.

The first to spot this behaviour was Stephen Hackett of 512 Pixels. He first noticed the noise when he tried to restore his phone via iCloud. The smartphone started to make a never before heard hissing noise, and it seemed to emit from the back of the phone, specifically the CPU, Hackett notes. When he shared his experience, many chimed in agreement, including a former Apple PR representative. Another user said he was facing the issue on his iPhone 7.

Of course, Apple told Hackett that his iPhone 7 Plus will get replaced with a new one as soon as possible. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are powered by the A10 Fusion chipset, and it is touted to be an extremely powerful chipset. Benchmark scores have revealed that the new processor may not only be much more powerful that many Android counterparts out there, but it is also beating its own laptop MacBook Pro in single-thread score numbers.

So, inevitably, many are blaming the powerful chipset as the cause of the noise, and iOS developer Marco Arment is even calling it as the “the phone equivalent of hearing the fans spin up loudly whenever your Mac’s CPU gets used to its actual potential”. Whatever it may be, Apple is yet to release an official statement stating the cause of the issue, after which more clarity will be gained.

iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black Variant Won’t Be Available From Apple Stores

iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black Variant Won't Be Available From Apple Stores

  • iPhone 7 & 7 Plus Jet Black variants won’t be available in retail stores
  • The Jet Black colour variant does not come with 32GB storage option
  • All other colour variants are available in select markets this Friday

Apple hasn’t released any pre-order numbers for the latest pair of iPhones, but the company has let one nugget about sales slip out: If you want a Jet Black iPhone, you may have to wait awhile.

The company says phones with the new, glossy black finish for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus won’t be on shelves in Apple stores on Friday.

“We couldn’t be happier with the initial response to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus,” Apple said in a statement to The Washington Post. “During the online pre-order period, initial quantities of iPhone 7 Plus in all finishes and iPhone 7 in Jet Black sold out and will not be available for walk-in customers.”

The Jet Black iPhone models come only in the phone’s higher storage capacities, 128-gigabyte and 256-gigabyte.

Shoppers may have luck finding the Jet Black phones at carrier stores or other retail stores, such as Best Buy or Target. But you may want to call ahead before you go to the store (or camp out in line) to make sure you can get what you want.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are also available in Rose Gold, Gold, Silver and Apple’s other Black finish. The firm said shoppers will be able to find all of those hues in Apple stores and other retail stores starting Friday.

Those who really want the shiny Jet Black finish can still order the phone they want – though it will require patience. Orders for the Jet Black iPhone on Apple’s website have shipping dates that push into November.

Apple has said that it will not release preorder sales information for this pair of smartphones, as had been its custom, because it thought that the phones will sell out and that sales will be limited only by supply.

Skeptics have said that Apple’s decision indicates it’s worried that the latest phones, which are more of an incremental update than many had hoped, won’t sell in the way we have come to expect from Apple. That’s a valid concern, given that some may look at the new phones and decide not to upgrade so quickly.

Early statements from major US carriers, however, indicate that preorders are on pace with past years or better. Verizon Executive Vice President Marni Walden said at a mobile industry conference that iPhone preorders were “business as usual,” according to a report from Bloomberg News. Meanwhile, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile have said that preorders are higher than for the iPhone 6s. Sprint, a smaller carrier, said preorders were “up more than 375 percent” from the first three days of iPhone sales last year.

Reliance Jio JioFi 4G Hotspot With Oled Display, 2600mAh Battery Launched

Reliance Jio JioFi 4G Hotspot With Oled Display, 2600mAh Battery Launched at Rs. 1,999

  • The new variant is sold at the same price as the original device
  • It sports an Oled display that shows the network strength, battery
  • It is being sold in select cities in India

While Reliance Jio SIM cards remain a difficult thing to obtain, many stores see to have at least replenished their stocks of the Reliance JioFi 4G wireless hotspot. In fact, Reliance Jio has quietly launched a new JioFi 4G wireless hotspot that sports an Oled display and an improved 2600mAh battery. It is currently being sold in few cities in India at a price of Rs. 1,999.

Reliance Jio’s new JioFi is larger than its predecessor and sports a squarish shape with smooth edges. It has a sleek matte finish design, compared to the glossy egg-shaped original JioFi wireless hotspot. However the most notable difference is the Oled display housed on the top. The new Reliance Jio device shows whether the power is on/ off, the amount of battery life left, the 4G signal strength, and Wi-Fi signal strength. The large form can be credited to the 2600mAh battery integrated inside. To compare, the original JioFi had a 2300mAh battery.

Twitter user Raghvendra shared pictures of the new Reliance Jio JioFi, and the images show a vague ‘Designed in India’ logo at the back of the device. One of the major downsides of the new JioFi 4G wireless hotspot is that is has reduced support from 31 devices earlier, to only up to 10 devices, though it should still be plenty for most people. The new Reliance Jio JioFi continues to sport a microSD card (up to 32GB).

As mentioned, the price remains the same as the old variant. Reliance Jio released the JioFi hotspot for Rs. 2,899, but then slashed the price to Rs. 1,999 later. Even on the Reliance JioFi, data is free to use till December 31 under the Jio Welcome Offer. As of now, Reliance Jio has made no statement about what the plans will be post that date, though they are likely to be similar, if not better, than what’s being offered to other Jio SIM card holders.

Reliance Jio JioFi is useful if you want your entire house to go online, and is also portable, which means you can carry the network wherever you go. It comes with a rechargeable battery, and promises up to 5 hours of usage on a single charge. The Reliance JioFi 4G Wireless hotspot also allows you to use 4G LTE on your phone that doesn’t support 4G through the Jio Join app. The app allows you to place calls and send messages through the JioFi.
