Samsung Gear S2 Sells Out In 2 Hours In South Korea

Samsung Gear S2

The new Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch recently went up for pre-order in South Korea and it looks like the device was popular as all stock of the handset were sold out in just two hours.

It looks like Samsung only had 1,000 units of their Gear S2 smartwatch available to pre-order, which would explain why the device sold out so quickly, it launches in South Korea on the 2nd of October.

The new Samsung Gear S2 comes with Samsung’s Tizen OS and the device features a 1.2 inch round AMOLED display that has a resolution of 360 by 360 pixels.

Samsung’s latest smartwatch also comes with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of included storage, the device is powered by a dual core processor with a clock speed of 1GHz.

It is designed to be both waterproof and dust proof and it comes with NFC, Bluetooth, WiFi and features a 250 mAh battery. The new smartwatch will work with a wide range of Android smartphones, not just Samsung’s ones and Samsung are apparently thinking about making it compatible with the iPhone as well.

Samsung Working On A Major Update for The Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+ and Note 5

Galaxy S6 Edge+

Google has scheduled an event next week where the company is expected to launch the new Nexus devices, alongside the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. This also means that key Android manufacturers will start working on the new update, at least for their flagship devices.

According to a new report from SamMobile, the Korean company is reportedly working on a major update for Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+ and Note 5.

The publication didn’t get the details on what the update will feature, or if it’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but it’s the next big thing for Android folks. All these devices ship with Android Lollipop out of the box so it makes a lot of sense for the Korean giant to release the Android Marshmallow update for them. It’s also possible that we may get to see a big bug fixing update for the handsets, or even new features, instead of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Nonetheless, these devices will probably be among the list of first few devices to get the latest Android 6.0 when it launches later this month. We’ll update you if we get to hear anything more about this big update.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Will Come In Two Different Versions

Samsung Galaxy S7

We have already seen evidence of two different versions of the Samsung Galaxy S7 in some benchmarks, one with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, the other with a Samsung Exynos 8990 processor.

Now we have details on the two variants of the Samsung Galaxy S7, one with come with the model number SM-G930 and the other the model number SM-G935.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 with the model number SM-G930 will apparently be like the Galaxy S6 with a flat display. The Galaxy S7 with the model number SM-G935 will be similar to the Galaxy S6 Edge and will feature a dual edge curved display.

Samsung will launch their new Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge handsets in the US, Europe, Canada, Korea and China, the handsets are also expected to be made available in other countries as well.

In the US the devices will be made available with Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, US Cellular, MetroPCS and AIO wirelss, in Canada the devices will be made available with Bell Mobility.

The handsets will launch in South Kores with SKTElecom, LG Uplus and KT, as yet there are no details on which European carriers will have the devices.

As we have seen the Galaxy S7 with different processors, the two handsets are expected to come with different processors in different regions, some will get the Snapdragon 820 other the Exynos 8990.

This is what Samsung did in the past, although they stopped this with the launch of the Galaxy S6 and used their own processor, the Exynos 7420 due to reported heat issues with the Snapdragon 810.

As yet there are no details on other specifications on these new Galaxy S7 handsets, as soon as we get some more details, plus some actual photos of the handsets and information on the launch date, we will let you guys know.

Samsung Galaxy S7 With Snapdragon 820 Benchmarked Again

Galaxy S6 Edge

We have already seen some benchmarks of the new Samsung Galaxy S7, the handset has turned up twice before, once with a Samsung Exynos 8990 processor and also with a Snapdragon 820 processor.

The latest benchmarks for the Samsung Galaxy S7 show the handset with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and as we mentioned previously, this suggests that Samsung will offer the S7 with two processor options.

The graph below was shared on Weibo and it apparently shows the handset with two different versions of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, one listed as the 820-A the other as the 820-B.

Previous benchmarks of the Samsung Galaxy S7 have shown the handset with a 5.7 inch display with a Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, the device was also shown with an Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of RAM, plus 64GB of built in storage.

The cameras on the Samsung Galaxy S7 were shown to be the exact same ones as the Galaxy S6, a 5 megapixel camera on the front and a 16 megapixel camera on the back.

We suspect that these are not the final specifications on the new Galaxy S7, the handsets which have appeared in the benchmarks are more than likely test prototypes that Samsung is using to test out these two processors.

From the benchmarks we have seen it would appear that Samsung has plans to launch two different models of the Galaxy S7, one with an Exynos 8990 processor, the other with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor.

This is something that Samsung did in the past until the Galaxy S6 was released, the company chose to use their own processor for the S6 range due to the reported overheating issues with the Snapdragon 810.

Samsung Galaxy Mega On, Galaxy O7 Hit Benchmark and Certification Listings

After being tipped earlier this year, Samsung Galaxy Mega On and Galaxy Grand On are again in the news as they get certified on China’s Tenaa and hit the benchmark tests. The listing and the benchmarks tip the smartphones’ specifications once again.

The Samsung Galaxy O7 or the Galaxy Grand On has gone through the GFXBench benchmark tests (viaPhonearena), revealing some mid-range specifications. The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based smartphone is listed with a HD resolution display; a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC; an Adreno 306 GPU; 1GB RAM; 8GB inbuilt storage; a 12-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The benchmark shows two screen sizes for the handset – 5.8-inch and 5-inch – hinting that two smartphones from the same family were benchmarked at the same time.

Previous leaks have hinted at a 5-inch display; quad-core Exynos 3475 CPU clocked at 1.3GHz, and an 8-megapixel rear camera for the Galaxy Grand On.

samsung_galaxy_o7_gfx_benchmarks.jpgAs for Samsung Galaxy Mega On, the smartphone was listed on Tenaa (via Mobipcker) revealing partial specifications. The 4G-enabled smartphone is seen to feature a 5.5-inch HD TFT display; 1.2GHz processor; 1GB of RAM; a 13-megapixel camera; a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and 8GB of inbuilt storage. The handset would run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and will measure 151.8×77.5×8.2mm. Past rumours and leaks suggest the Galaxy Mega On to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC and would be backed by a 3000mAh battery.

Samsung is yet to reveal when it would be launching the two smartphones in the market. It last weeklaunched the Samsung Galaxy J1 Ace budget smartphone in India at Rs. 6,300.
